srinagar, Oct 29: Kashmir based leaders of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are up in arms against their party ministers as they believe that their ministers failed to put in serious efforts to reach out to the people of Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times a few BJP leaders who are active in Kashmir are contemplating to submit the detailed report about the performance of the BJP ministers when Durbar was in Srinagar from May to October this year. "We left no stone unturned to ensure that our ministers meet the people in Kashmir to make them aware about the policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his vision of development peace and prosperity. Our Ministers never took our suggestions seriously," said a BJP leader wishing not to be named.
Referring to the Accession Day celebrations on October 27 this year, the leader said, "We had requested all the top leaders to spare sometime and assemble at BJP headquarter at Rajbagh in Srinagar. Our aim was to send a message to the world that Kashmiris are proud to be the part of the union of India and they denounce separatists and separatism."
He said, "Only a few leaders from Kashmir attended the function. Ministers stayed away from the function leaving the organizers embarrassed."
Another leader said that when they carried out the membership drive in Kashmir region they had promised the new entrants that they would be given a chance to meet and interact with the top leaders of the party. "We failed to keep up our promise as ministers remained inaccessible and turned down our repeated requests to meet the common masses," the leader claimed.
Sources said that much hyped Mahasampark programme turned out to be a damp squib as ministers did not put in any effort to establish sampark (contact) with the common people. "The members which BJP had enrolled soon after taking the reins of the state lost interest along with the passage of time," they added.
A BJP leader said that they have been asked to make the forthcoming rally of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 7 a grand success. "We have been asked to mobilize the masses and ensure that PM addresses a historic rally in the summer capital. We have failed to fulfil the promises which we had made to people earlier. It would be difficult for us to approach them again and convince them to attend the November 7 rally of the Prime Minister," he added.
Sources said, "BJP ministers putting in no effort to address the masses in Kashmir has annoyed the party high command. A few Kashmir based leaders have been asked to prepare a report about the performance of the ministers from May to October this year."
Insiders revealed that high command has taken a serious note about BJP leaders failing to live upto the expectation of the masses in Jammu, where the party won 27 assembly seats, and in Kashmir where BJP failed to open its account.
