| 3 projects sanctioned 5 years ago await completion | | JK shows dismissal performance under RKVY | | Bijay Charak

JAMMU, Nov 21: Despite lapse of five years Jammu and Kashmir Government has failed to complete the three projects, sanctioned under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).
Official sources informed Early Times that in the year 2011-12, Government of India (GoI) has sanctioned 3 projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 115 lakhs.
"Even the executing agency Sericulture department has adequate funding but the department has utilized only Rs. 31 Lakhs till date which is the one forth part of the funds" sources added.
They further said that the three projects which were sanctioned GoI under the scheme of RKVY included the propagation of exotic/improved mulberry variety, the estimate cost of said project was more than Rs. 66 lakhs.
Another project (Construction of rearing houses) which was sanctioned in same year and its estimated cost was around Rs. 27 lakhs, supply of rearing kits project the estimate cost was around Rs. 22 lakhs but till date the project was still incomplete.
The last project was the propagation of exotic high yielding mulberry varieties where Rs. 2.20 lakhs were utilized till date, and Rs. 30.74 lakhs were spent for 29 beneficiaries of Jammu and Kashmir in various districts for studying for silk worm rearers.
Sources further said that the Sericulture department yet distributed Rs. 10.34 lakhs to 47 beneficiaries for rearing kits across the State and Rs. 15.50 lakhs distributed to 100 beneficiaries of Jammu and Kashmir for CGI sheets as roofing material of rearing house.
When contacted Deputy Director said that the work on rearing house project was going on would likely to complete in coming months. |
