Edu Deptt's officials fail to attend meeting of Capex budget 11/24/2015 12:17:58 AM Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 23: The officials of Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education department have reportedly disregarded Chief Secretary BR Sharma by not turning up for a meeting called by him to finalize revised estimates of Capex budget 2015-16 and draft Capex budget 2016-17. Sources in Planning and Development Department (P&DD) informed Early Times that the meetings for finalization of Capex Budget of all government departments have been going on and on 19th of November, Technical Education and Higher Education department were called for meeting to be chaired by Chief Secretary BR Sharma. The meeting of Higher Education department was scheduled to be held at 11 AM but due to consultations on the revised estimates and draft capex budget of Tourism department, the meeting of Higher Education and Technical education was rescheduled for 11:30 PM and later to12 PM. "Chief Secretary BR Sharma reportedly felt humiliated when he found that officials of Higher Education department didn't turn up for meeting and Sharma refused to discuss estimates of Higher Education department", sources said. They further said that the revised estimates and proposed capex budget for the next financial year of Technical Education department was approved and Chief Secretary refused to deliberate on Higher Education department", sources said. Sources further informed that though Chief Secretary had taken strong notice of absence of officials and alleged carelessness shown by officials of Higher Education. "It is still unclear whether an explanation was called by Chief Secretary from the absent officials or not but it is obvious that explanation is generally called", sources said. While agreeing with the report, an official of Planning and Development Department who was not authorized to talk media said that due to absence of officials the meeting was not convened, adding that the meeting was likely to be rescheduled in coming days.
