| 50 Deodar sleepers seized, smugglers escape | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 24: Police have seized 50 sleepers of Deodar during a raid conducted in a remote area of Bhaderwah in Doda district here today. A case was registered at P/S Bhaderwah in this connection. "Based on specific information about felling of green trees and the smuggling of timber, a police party from Police Station Bhaderwah headed by SDPO Bhaderwah Sajjad khan under the supervision of SSP Doda Zahid Manhas raided the Andera nullah of Shapan Bhadewrah of district Doda, police spokesperson said. He added that on seeing the police party the smugglers fled from the sight. "However, police seized 50 fresh cutter sleepers of Deodar wood, police said, further adding the seized timber was later handed over to forest officials after completion of legal formalities. Meanwhile a case under FIR No 91/2015 u/s 379 RPC and 6 Forest Act stands registered at P/S Bhaderwah in this connection. |
