| JYF assails VC Jammu University, seeks intervention of CM for his removal | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 25 : Jammu Youth Forum today protested against Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Ramji Dass Sharma giving misleading statements and quoting wrong figures to the Chancellor office with regard to appointment of contractual faculty on non-sanctioned posts which has exposed his malafide intentions to selectively target the individuals.
Addressing a gathering here JYF President Mohd Akram Ahmed said, "Vice Chancellor recently said in an interview that some disgruntled people have launched vicious propaganda against his administration owing to their personal grudge and the interview for some non-sanctioned UG contractual faculty positions in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) was not conducted on the recommendation of Campus Deans Committee." But, the fact is that University conducted interview for several non-sanctioned posts including that of off-site campuses, departments and even DDE where already a permanent faculty member was available, he mentioned adding that Vice Chancellor deliberately took the matter related to interview of few UG contractual faculty positions in DDE to the committee of Campus Deans to use the Committee for taking personal revenge without allowing the Director DDE to participate in the deliberation who was the real requisitioning authority.
He alleged that Vice Chancellor immediately acted upon the recommendation of the committee as he himself had mooted the idea clandestinely but failed to realize that the same committee had recommended "One Man One Post" formula for administrative positions. It proves that committee is nothing but a team of sycophants of the Vice Chancellor who are always ready to appease their master. In DDE, there are regular faculty members in Hindi, Urdu and Commerce but still contractual appointments were made to assist the permanent faculty members who are good for nothing and just pursing huge sum of salaries whereas students were made to suffer as they had been asked to go to colleges for their practical, Mohd Akram pointed out. The JYF president said if Committee of Campus Dean was so essential then why all non-sanctioned posts were not referred to it for recommendation, he said adding that Vice Chancellor was just using it to settle his personal score with some individuals and creating the stumbling blocks in the smooth functioning of DDE.
He urged the Governor and the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the matter and intervene to save the situation from turning worse. He also demanded stern action against the Vice Chancellor who is pursing vindictive agenda instead of boosting research and academics agenda. |
