Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 25: For the last one week, there is a news doing rounds in the J&K police headquarters (PHQ) that a senior IPS officer, has purchased a palatial bungalow outside Jammu. As one enters the PHQ, any officer known to you would ask, "Do you know that one of our senior colleagues has purchased a bungalow worth crores?" Even the sentries and other lower rank cops are heard discussing what they call 'open secret.' Some dismiss it as a rumour, but others at the PHQ and even some retired police officers have been sharing it with each other and their acquaintances. Though they do not discuss it in public as no one has got any evidence, it is a hot topic in almost every PHQ section. "With his salary savings, it is just impossible for the officer to purchase property worth Rs 1 crore," a police officer remarked. All in the state police circles know that this senior IPS officer has already activated all his skills to stop others from moving ahead in the race. "Whether he has purchased the bungalow worth crores or not, the State probe agencies must activate all their available resources to find it out. From the investigation point of view also, it is a fit case for these agencies, including the Vigilance Organisation," a senior police officer told Early Times. |
