Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 26: In respect of celebration of the 1st Constitution Day, a function was held in the General Rajinder Singh Auditorium of Jammu University, here. 26th November has been declared as the Constitution Day to remember the great contribution of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. Member of J&K State Accountability Commission, Justice J. P. Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh dwelt in detail on the formation of Constitution, constitutional and fundamental rights, social, economic and political justice and liberty. He also gave brief account about the Accountability Commission and replied to questions by students regarding Constitution and accountability. The Vice Chancellor of the Jammu University Prof. R. D. Sharma presented presidential address and threw light on various aspects of the Constitution. Former Member of State Information Commission, Prof. S. K. Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Among others, a large number of students and faculty members of the University were also present. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th, November 1949, and came into force on January26th-1950, beginning a new era in the history of India. Director Law School of University of Jammu presented vote of thanks. |
