AS Centre celebrates Constitution Day with reinforced vigour BJP State unit gives a miss even to routine celebrations

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: State unit of BJP gave a miss to the Constitution Day celebrations today, deviating completely from the line and policy which the Union government adopted this year. In power as the party is with PDP in the state, this deviance came to be seen more as aberration in arrogance as the party would celebrate the day every year, no matter in a small way but conveniently forgot to pay even tributes as a respectful gesture.
In what could be seen as a bold yet belated move, the Union government decided to celebrate November 26 this year as the Constitution Day as a part of year long celebrations of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of Indian constitution.
There were celebrations galore across the country, only except J&K, notwithstanding a gala display of advertisements through media showering tributes to great leader.
But there was no mention of the Day in the party office today, not to speak of any formal function which should have been organized, given the significance party led NDA government consciously decided to celebrate in a big way.
Sources said there was obvious disquiet and disappointment within a section of the leaders in the party for having skipped paying even minimal tributes to a leader who was remembered today not just for having drafted the constitution but is known more instilling a spirit of social justice and empowerment to weaker sections.
Sources said this is being seen by some as anti SC mindset which has deepened lately not within just BJP but also in its guiding organisation RSS.
"There is no reason why BJP should have skipped the celebrations today as the Day would be celebrated every year with fervour while the party was opposition….some people would go all the way to pay floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar at his statue near University..", said a party leader while rueing complete silence in the party office today.
Sources said this is being seen more as a deliberate, rather conscious move the directions for which might have come from the RSS itself which takes final decisions on every small, big matters and is being seen in the light of statements from the RSS leadership two months back.
However, this has only exposed the double speak and duplicity of the party , said the sources and may not augur well politically in time to come.
As there was no effort on part of the alliance government to celebrate the Constitution Day, it became conspicuous for BJP as the partner since its leadership with a reinforced vigour.
