Symposium on "Vivekananda's Vision on National Integration" organised

KATHUA, Nov 26: To bring forward the ideology of Swami Vivekananda and his views on national integration, a symposium on the topic "Vivekananda's Vision on National Integration" was organised on 26th Nov 2015 by NSS Units of Govt. Degree College (Boys) Kathua as a part of Nation Integration Week being celebrated from 23rd to 30th of Nov. 2015.
This symposium was organised to revive the ideology of Swami Vivekananda, a person who was a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vadanta and Yoga to the western world and remembered for his contribution to the concept of Nationalism in colonial India.
11Volunteers participated in the symposium and presented their ideas on the topic. Programme started with lightening of traditional lamp by the distinguished guests present in the function.
The welcome address was presented by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Rachna and stage was coordinated by Dr. Ram Singh. Dr.Rachna impressed upon the audience to fill the divide among people created on the basis of caste, creed and religion and work together to make India a prosperous nation.
Dr. Ram Singh threw light on the necessity of Unity in present day era. He emphasised on the need of reviving the ideas of Swami Vivekananda.
Programme Officer Dr. Suraya Partap Singh quoting Vivekananda, said he followed what our saints have taught the world for centuries, the essence of Unity and oneness; all we need is to revisit our glorious past and bring out its power to create a prosperous nation and united world.
Dr.R.K. Manhas of the Department of Botany, Dr. Mohinder Nath Sharma, Head, Department of Sanskrit and Prof. Rajesh Kumar from Department of Zoology, acted as Jury members during the Symposium.
The first position was secured by Vikram Quainth of B.Sc. Part-III. Diksha stood second in the competition and the third place was secured by Manu Sharma.
A consolation prize was also given to. Manu Salaria. Formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ram Singh. The programme culminated with the National Anthem presented by NSS Volunteers of the College.
