Jammu, Nov 27 : Three days long Enrichment Programme: Teaching English (North Zone) commenced at DPS, Jammu. Naeem Akhtar Minister for Education inaugurated a three day long workshop for classes VI-VIII at DPS Jammu from 27th - 29th November, 2015 where the delegates from more than 50 schools of North Zone actively participated. Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture presided over the function. The DPS Society (New Delhi) organizes such workshops from time to time for the teachers to hone their teaching skills and make teaching and learning an enriching experience. Many VVIPS, Educationists, Parents, Prominent citizens and press media also graced the occasion. The welcome address was delivered by Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Jammu who welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honours, Kunwrani Ritu Singh and Vineta Kher, Director CEM DPSS New Delhi. Prof Vandhana Sharma Dean Faculty of Social Sciences & Director- School of Languages & Literature, Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra, the key note speaker, was welcomed by Meenu Gupta Headmistress DPS Jammu. Workshop of day one was divided into four sessions. The 1st session was addressed by Prof. Vandhana Sharma -Dean Faculty HSS SMVDU, Katra on role and importance of teaching English at middle school level in students development, it was a very informative session. It touched upon two interesting activities i.e Teaching Stories in an innovative way and teaching idioms as a multi-layered activity. Session two was conducted on using ICT in English language learning by Ms. Rohini Bhat, National Representative for Trinity College London. She emphasized on the need of using technology in teaching of the English language such as using multimedia videos, television, radio, youtube clippings and the internet as an effective tool to aid a teacher and discussed its benefits. |
