Old horse Farooq takes command of NC, Omar sidelined | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 28: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah is apparently sending a message that he will probably be the next Chief Minister if his party comes to power again. Farooq has been holding regular meetings with his party cadre and also with common citizens of the Jammu and even in Kashmir also. "Farooq is definitely sending a message that he is the next CM. He has realised the fact that NC can be activated and galvanised only if he comes to the forefront and he can use his charisma to woo the voters. This is what he has been doing for quite some time and it's not for nothing," said a senior NC leader and former minister, wishing not to be named, as he is not in core group of Omar Abdullah. In a significant message of even reaching out to the BJP, the party which is being heavily criticised by Omar Abdullah, Farooq even when uninvited went to the function organised on late GL Dogra, the father-in-law of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the key person in the BJP, with whom Farooq shares personal relation. NC sources said that Farooq definitely wanted to send a message by going out to the function of Dogra, uninvited, as it was made to out to be BJP, though Dogra was a Congress leader and could have gone to the function organised by the Congress party itself. "Ever since he has recovered after an operation, Farooq has not only activated his party but has sent a clear message about who is the boss and more importantly who will be the next CM. This has re-activated the party as not only it believes that he can be definitely the next CM but even the general people are getting the impression. And, Farooq is working on the plan," said the NC leader. |
