Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 28: Over three weeks on, the Ministers of PDP-BJP alliance Government are becoming conspicuous with their constant absence in the Civil Secretariat offices after Darbar reopened in the winter capital. Both junior as well as senior Ministers from both the parties have seldom attended their offices regularly after Darbar shifted to Jammu, thanks to their pre occupation with outside works, be it political functions or the works related to governance.
While most of the PDP Ministers stayed away from the offices and camped in parts of Kashmir over the last over one week, BJP Ministers also were not seen coming regularly to their office chambers, sources within the Secretariat here said. It was almost a repeat of what BJP Ministers did when Darbar shifted to Srinagar in April this year, said the sources. None of the BJP Ministers stayed or attended the offices in Summer capital regularly as they would fly frequently to Jammu for entire period of stay of Darbar in Srinagar and attend to their constituencies. However, they did not adhere to a proper schedule of visiting the Secretariat here as the alliance Government did not stick to roaster system of visit of Ministers in groups.
As most of the senior Ministers flew frequently to Srinagar during the last over two weeks, this was seen also silencing the criticism of opposition which hit out at what it termed as the failure of the PDP-BJP Government to have in place a roster of rotational presence of Ministers in Kashmir during the winters, an arrangement which was in set in place by the previous coalition Government. While the PDP Ministers remained engaged with some already scheduled functions and also in touch in with the masses, the opposition is now pointing out at recurrent absence of the Ministers in the Secretariat. The criticism of NC mostly on raising the issue of only winter Secretariat has exposed the party's duplicity and concern over Kashmir constituency as its leadership never asked for such an arrangement to be in place in Jammu when Darbar shifted to Srinagar in April.
PDP Minister's continuous absence for almost entire week became conspicuous as they got stuck up in Valley on account of non operational flights due to fog and bad weather for three consecutive days. However, when the Secretariat opens on Monday, it is only expected the work in all the Ministerial chambers commences with presence of the concerned Ministers.
