12/1/2015 12:20:45 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 30: Public Opinion Forum (POF) strongly condemned the recent statements of Dr Farooq Abdullah wherein he described Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) as part of Pakistan and those comments about the mighty Indian Army saying that all the forces cannot eliminate the terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
The members of the Forum, who met here today, took serious note of the irrelevant statements from a senior politician of the state. They (members) opined that the statement of Farooq Abdullah was an act of sedition, anti-national and amounts to discrediting Indian forces. They reminded Farooq of the instrument of accession signed by the Maharaja of State, which was supported by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
It was demanded in the meeting that State as well as Central Government should take serious note of such statements and must prosecute Farooq Abdullah for his act of treason.
The members of POF also expressed their disappointment on the performance of BJP MLAs and the Ministers and warn them that if they do not work to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu region and the resolving the issues confronting them, they may be dethroned of the power that they are enjoying now.
It was resolved by the members to reactivate the Public Opinion Forum by way of enrolling new faces and increasing its activities, in particular enlightening the people about the issues confronting the society by way of holding seminars, organising debates.
In the meantime, an adhoc committee was constituted with VD Dogra, Dr Satya Dev, Dr Gopal Parthasarthi, Parveen Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Nathu Ram Gupta, Dr Vijay Sharma and Dr Dhaman as its members. VD Dogra was appointed as convenor of te Forum.
Prominent among others who were present included Dr Nirmal Vinod, Ravi Kant, Subash Sharma, Ramesh Chander Sharma, RC Gupta and Gopal Sharma.
