Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 30: Notwithstanding brave face presented by the party leadership, serious differences are reportedly cropped in the State unit of BJP over expulsion of senior party leader and former ideologue Prof Hari Om.
A hardcore nationalist thinker and eminent historian, who has been propogating pro-Jammu ideology since decades, was expelled from the party on November 23 on the "wise" advice of some new entrants in the party who have joined BJP only when party emerged as a strong force in Jammu region.
Credible sources in the BJP said that some old guards in the party, who have been associated with BJP and other sister organisations, have registered their protest against treatment given to a an eminent person like Prof Hari Om. These leaders have told party leadership that Prof Hari Om has only opposed policies and programmes of the coalition Government in State and it was nothing wrong in highlighting some wrong doings of the coalition.
The veteran leaders have reportedly told party leadership that taking decision on the advices of new entrants would be proved counter-productive for the party because party leadership could not be in a position to control Prof Hari Om. "It is better to convince the angry party ideologue instead of showing him door", sources quoting a senior leader said and cautioned that Prof Hari Om would be proved more dangerous for the party after his expulsion.
Credible sources said that a group within the party was working overtime to ensure expulsion of Prof Hari Om because this group does not want any educated person in the party because this "gang" of outsiders is planning the hijack State unit of BJP.
Prof Hari Om was expelled from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years on account of gross indiscipline, anti-party activities, unrepentant attitude towards misconduct and unsatisfactorily explanation' to the show-cause notice issued on November 5. The expulsion order was issued by State BJP president and Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore. "We received your response to the show-cause notice pertaining to your acts of gross indiscipline and anti-party activities and your unrepentant attitude towards your misconduct is writ large in your reply," said the order which was issued on November 23.
