Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 1: Border Security Force (BSF) is completing its 50 years in the nation. The force has 50 years of glorious past behind it and is marching ahead with honour and pride. To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Force, 9th Battalion deployed in Samba Sector of Jammu organized a Grand function named at its Head Quarters at Panjtilla, Samba. The occasion was marked by the display of a documentary on BSF and History of 9th Batallion of BSF, its achievements and the road map ahead. The function was attended by senior officers of Army, Police, ITBP, BSF and District Administration. Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs by Chief Guest Rajesh Kumar Gurung, DIG BSF, Samba, Brigadier R S Rana, Commander 168 Brigade and Joginder Singh, SSP, Samba. A cultural programme was presented by the children of M V International School, Vijaypur and local artists. Mementos and insignias of BSF Golden Jubilee were given to Ex-servicemen of BSF, Invitees and BSF families. R K Gurung, DIG also unveiled a BSF Golden Jubilee time keeper at the start of function. 9the Batallion BSF under Arvind Ghildiyal, Commandant is deployed in the most sensitive area of Samba which witnesses frequent unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers with recent incident of heavy firing on 10th Nov 2015. Speaking on the occasion, Gurung, DIG and Comdr 168 Brigade applauded the performance of Unit in operations, its combat capability and the achievements made by unit in recent past in Samba which has built relative peace in Samba District. |
