G S Asgotra Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: The tall claims of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched by Bhartiya Jantya Party have virtually dashed to the ground as overflowing dustbins placed in the lawn of Poonch House Panjthirthi, mock at the campaign and also make life hell for secretariat employees, whose rooms are attacked by houseflies and foul smell. Some of the secretariat employees informed Early Times that since they have shifted to Jammu from Srinagar after annual Darwar move, the dustbins were lifted only once. He further said that due to overflowing dustbin, foul smell emanating from there made life hell for the employees. "December is ending and in such cold conditions, flocks of houseflies can be easily found in every compartment", another employee said, adding that it was unbearable for employees to spend time there. Criticizing the Estate Department and Jammu Municipal Corporation, another employee said that it was still a mystery as who was responsible for the cleanliness of the colony."Though JMC has placed the dustbin but they are unbothered about the plight of residents and we have also appealed to employees of Estate department but they too didn't pay any heed towards our grievances", the employee said. The employees further said that on one hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and when the Abhiyaan was launched, cleanliness drive was launched in the areas which were already cleaned but after nearly one year, even the dustbins were not being lifted, exposing the claims of government as well as state leaders of Bhartiya Janta Party. "It is unambiguously clear that Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was only a photo session and Panjthirthi Poonch house exposes the Abhiyaan. All the secretariat employees are residing there, who are well connected to power corridors if such is the attitude for secretariat employees, then the condition of common masses can easily be gauged", he said. |
