SRINAGAR, Jan 15: Hundreds of in-service teachers and masters who have acquired their degrees through distance mode have not been promoted so for while as the same degree holders who acquired their degree before 2005 through distance mode have reached to the level of Principal, Dy CEOs and CEOs in the state.
"There are few University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized and Distance Education Council (DEC) approved universities in India which offers Masters of Science (MSc) to the in service science graduates learning enterprises," said sources.
In service teachers, masters have to join the MSc course through proper channel, actually school education department issues them the permission to join the courses, sources said.
Sources said that the degrees which were pursued in science stream through distance mode via campus in Annamalai University are recognized, adding that DEC and UGC approved such courses and both these bodies determined the genuineness of these degrees.
All the states also established the genuineness of campus degree where practical is mandatory and conducted labs within campus for 80 days, said sources.
"Annamalai University Tamil Nadu is one of the universities in India which offers M Sc through its campus by attending 80 days practical and lab work within the campus and 80 days theory classes are also mandatory within the campus which we followed accordingly," said sources.
A group of masters said that to redress this problem government put in place SRO 252 but the same has not been implemented in the zoology list of DPC on 30/10/2015. They said that they fail to understand that why the state is crushing the right of hundreds if in service science masters who are eligible for promotion to in-charge lecturers.
"Unfortunately juniors were promoted and seniors were dropped by writing just one line on the order of promotions and those candidates who have done their degrees through distance mode," said masters.
They said that their degrees would be considered after proper verification of their documents and if the authorities found any doubtful content in their records, their services should be cancelled without any delay.
"Fact of the matter is that the verification was done many times already by the committee which has given us the certificates as verified, adding moreover the department has given the permission to Post Graduate science degrees holders through this mode," said the masters.
We are fully eligible as in-charge lecturers, but education department is hesitating for the reasons best known to them and PG masters have once again fallen prey to the injustice at the hands of bureaucrats in school education department, they alleged.
