Government Formation in JK

Mehbooba refuses to take calls of BJP leaders
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 15: The Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Friday reportedly held and important meeting with BJP's National Vice-President Avinash Rai Khanna, and BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav in Delhi to discuss why no progress has been made vis-a-vis Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times Khanna and Madhav briefed Singh about the prevailing stalemate and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti not being in a hurry to form the Government as she is in a deep shock due to the demise of her father.
Insiders revealed that two leaders told the Union Home Minister that PDP wants to review the "Agenda of Alliance" before carrying on with the coalition and so far there have been no positive signs from the other side. "We have to wait for PDP to make the first move," Khanna and Madhav are believed to have told Singh.
Rajnath Singh, who had arrived in Srinagar to attend the last rites of the late Chief Minister last week, according to the sources, told the two leaders to ensure that no BJP leader should issue any statement against the PDP to avoid any controversy at this crucial juncture.
Sources claimed that BJP leaders maintained that efforts should be made to reach out to the PDP president to ensure that BJP-PDP coalition continues in Jammu and Kashmir.
Everyone was expecting that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti would break her silence on Friday after offering the congregational prayers of her late father at Bijbehara. However, grief stricken Mehbooba remained tightlipped and didn't utter a word.
The PDP senior leader Naeem Akther while talking to the reporters at Bijbehara said, "Mission of Mufti Sayeed would be carried forward and decision about the Government formation would be taken after taking everyone on board."
Asked how long would PDP take to decide its future course of action, Akther said, "I can't tell you how long would it take."
Sources within the PDP revealed that Mehbooba during her meetings with the BJP leaders, including Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav in Srinagar had made it clear that she is in no hurry to take the oath as Chief Minister, and she would first like to review whether "Agenda of Alliance" was implemented or not during the past nine months of the PDP-BJP coalition.
Sources said the BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav and former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Friday telephoned the PDP president Mehbooba but she refused to talk. "Mehbooba refusing to talk sent the BJP leaders into tizzy," sources claimed.
They said Mehbooba is unhappy with the BJP as it tried to put conditions when the party was mourning the demise of its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
