Pamphlets advocating release of jailed HM 'activist' Faktu appear at Kishtwar | He was sentenced to life in prison in a murder case | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Feb 5: Some unidentified persons today circulated pamphlets in the town advocating the release of former Hizb spokesperson and separatist Qasim Faktu who was lodged in Srinagar jail for last 23 years. The pamphlets termed his continuous detention as "political vendetta" and against the rules and regulations. Faktu is the husband of Asiya Indrabi, head of "Dukhtaran e milat". Some unidentified persons, believed to be non-locals, circulated four pamphlets, highlighting the life history of Faktu who was sentenced to life imprisonment by Supreme Court in a murder case. These contained an appeal to the masses for joining the campaign for the release of ex-spokesperson of Hizb terror outfit and quoted various sections of law in support of his release. He is completing 23 years in jail on February 5, 2016. The poster was issued by Muslim Deeni Maaz and also carried the address of some websites supporting the early release of Faktu. Meanwhile, Kishtwar police has started investigation into the circulation and appearance of the posters in the district. It is pertinent to mention that few days prior to the August 2013 Kishtwar communal violence, the posters of JKLF founder Maqbool Butt and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru along with separatist Shabir Ahmed Shah had appeared in the town with anti-national slogans. |
