Early Times Report

Reasi, Feb 5: Resentment is brewing among locals in Pouni of Reasi district against Zonal Education Officer who allegedly is promoting the attachment culture in the education department and is involved in mal practice for his vested interests which is affecting the academics adversely in various schools
According to sources within education department, the Govt Middle School Sadeen in Pouni has 103 students on rolls and has four teachers only against eight sanctioned posts. "The school is also headless as it has no head master till date," sources said. Sources said the shortage of teaching faculty is affecting the academics of the students due to undue student- teacher ratio.
Alleging mal practices at ZEO's office, locals said, "Since the ZEO Pouni Gopal Sharma is indulged in promoting 'attachment culture' and is adopting 'pick and choose' policy to attach his blue-eyed and influential to the choicest placements while ignoring the requisite teacher student ratio for the better academic results of the government schools which already are under scanner for poor performance in board examinations.
Citing various other examples of attachment, locals further alleged that the studies of their wards was affected adversely and said that glaring example of the mal-practice at ZEO Pouni, is the attachment of teacher Sunita Devi whose original place of posting is Govt Middle School Sadeen but has been attached to Govt Middle School Tanuja which is situated in close vicinity of her residence.
Yet in another similar case one Asha Devi has been attached from GMS Sadeen to Govt Primary School Draaman which clearly depicts the promotion of attachment culture despite government has passed orders many time to discourage the attachments culture.
Pertinently the previous government in recent past also has issued order (in December) to cancel all attachments of teachers and has ordered all such beneficiaries to report to their original place of postings but the same order remained as null and void in Pouni zone as attachments remained continued reasons better known to officials at helms of affairs.
When contacted Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi Vinod Kumar Saini told 'Early Times' that he is not aware of this and assured that an official probe shall be initiated in the matter. He also assured that all the teachers presently enjoying attachments will be sent to parent postings.
Meanwhile the ZEO Pouni shong when asked for his comments on this issue, he in his dictatorial style briefly said that he shall answer to the inquiry committee only.'
