BJP appeals to PDP to re-forge alliance to get everything from India
Humiliating, insulting Jammu

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 7: No one had ever imagined that the BJP would insult, humiliate, let down and ditch its Jammu constituency for sharing power in the State and stoop so low in such a shameless and brazen manner, but it has done so. It has turned so power-hungry that it is now prepared to even barter the paramount national interests in the State to fulfill its lust for power. It is not an over statement. It is a statement of fact and is based on what the newly-nominated J&K BJP president Sat Sharma said the other day while appealing to the reluctant PDP to re-forge an alliance with the BJP.
Making a passionate appeal to the PDP for re-forging alliance with the BJP, he disclosed that the late Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed manipulated most of the ministries for Kashmir and his party, that New Delhi will hand over two power projects to the State Government and concede all other demands of the PDP. He appealed to the PDP to give an opportunity to the BJP to get as much from Delhi as possible.
"The coalition was formed on a common minimum programme (read Agenda of Alliance) with detailed deliberations over distribution of ministries," he said, adding that "the Union Government will explore modalities for transfer of Dulhasti and Uri hydro power projects to J&K".
J&K State will be the solitary State in the country if the Union Government overturns the age-old national policy on national power projects and hands over these two projects to the State Government. This, if at all happens, will lead to similar demands in other States and the result would be disastrous for the unity and integrity of India. How irresponsible the BJP has turned just for the sake of power.
The revelation made by the State BJP president that "the coalition was formed on a common minimum programme with detailed deliberations over distribution of ministries" also vindicated the critics of the Agenda of Alliance who questioned under-representation of Jammu in the all-powerful State Cabinet. Kashmir got 12 berths in the Cabinet, while Jammu only 5, despite the fact that the number of the BJP and the PDP legislators in the Assembly was almost equal. In other words, the BJP ditched the people of Jammu province even before joining the Government in J&K.
The newly-nominated J&K president also endorsed the complaint of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti that the Agenda of Alliance was not implemented in full. He appealed to her to give some more time to the BJP so that it could come up to her expectation.
"It is a visionary document of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed…There could have been some delays in implementing time-consuming features of the Agenda of Alliance, but it was prepared with a holistic framework to cover six-year tenure of the Government in the State…Give us our due time in governance and everything will be translated into action," he said.
What the State BJP president said only indicates the direction his party is prepared to move towards. It is disgusting that the BJP is taking the people of Jammu province for a ride without realizing that an anti-BJP wave has already gripped the entire region with one and all accusing it of being "dishonest", "unscrupulous" and "ideologically, politically and intellectually immoral, dishonest and corrupt". What has gone wrong with the BJP?
There is still time for the BJP to rectify its wrongs and appreciate the sentiments of the outraged people of Jammu province. Not to do so or to continue to behave as before would be only to dig its grave in Jammu, which returned 25 BJP MLAs to the Assembly.
