Return of NC into power possible
2/8/2016 12:07:46 AM
R.B. SURI
In politics, everything is pos-
sible as in the past National
Conference shared the power with BJP at the centre when Omar remained MoS in Atal Behari Vajpayees' cabinet and also once in Jammu Municipal Council when Vaid Vaishno Dutt was its chairman. Reports are there in the political field that some murmuring is going on that some legislators of PDP are regularly in contact with National Conference. Under the present ongoing political uncertainty conclusive indications are there that Mehbooba Mufti is in no mood for continuance with BJP as the coalition partner to run the affairs of the state without getting the solid commitment from the Prime Minister of the country Narender Modi about the CBMs which she has not spelt out clearly. Now it is very much clear that Mehbooba Mufti almost made up her mind to break the coalition for all practical purposes.
Whereas it is also learnt the BJP circles are utmost busy in forging the possibilities for the continuance of the alliance with PDP and at the same time they are also concentrating on building the possibilities ties with National Conference (NC) with regard to the formation of government in the state as they are short of 19 numbers of the legislators in the Assembly. Their efforts are already on muster the required support of the requisite number of the legislators.
Taking the lessons from the failures of Omar Abdullah as the Chief Minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, these days Patron of the J&K National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah is seriously busy and wasting no time in revitalizing of his party from the root level. He is making hectic tours of the different parts of the state and trying his best to contact and meet the people at the root level in every nook and corner of the state. Whenever he feels convenient, he always spare his time and come on the main streets of Jammu city with the jubilant mood. One can not imagine how bold he is? Having got the surgery of Kidney transplantation done at London (UK) and having rest for some time he is in action once again with full seriousness and determination in bringing his party which was totally derailed during his son Omar Abdullah's Rule in the state again on the track.
He remained on the Jammu streets for more than two hours last month and shared his views and distributing the sweets amongst the people who greeted him with full respects. Needless to mention here that NC lost the contact with the general masses of the state during Omar's Rule as he totally sidelined the subjects of the state and left them at the mercy of the God. Omar Abdullah led the Coalition Government in the state for six years with the Indian National Congress and made the mess. Since Omar was an inexperienced in the financial field at all and throughout he remained dependent on his ministers. In J&K Assembly Elections 2008, National Conference won the elections and got maximum number of seats and formed a Coalition Government in J&K State with the Indian National Congress. There is no doubt that Omar remained in power for six years but of no use as there always remained a tug of war between the coalition partners on one pretext or the other. People at large in the valley out rightly rejected the coalition partners because of their inefficiency in working during the six years Rule. They made a way for the next Government in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. People were the best Judge to rate him as an incompetent Administrator of the State. His regime was a big zero as was evident from the fact that he stands rejected by the masses of the state in the last Assembly elections. His party National was reduced to the strength of 15 MLAs from 28 MLAs. Jammu and Kashmir state has been governed by the regional political parties of the state and the national political party of the country i.e. Indian National Congress (INC) as well since it acceded to the Union of India in 1947.
(A) National Conference (NC) ruled the state singly and also in coalition with Indian National Congress
(B) Indian National Congress (INC) ruled the state singly and also in coalition with National Conference (NC) and with People's Democratic Party (PDP)
and PDP and BJP Combine was in place based Agenda on Alliance and was ruling the state since 10 months under the Chief Minister ship of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed till his sudden and untimely death on 7th January. After the death of Mufti Sahib, the state is under Governor's Rule from 8th January. Earlier the governments were as usual but the last one was unusual one as the two partners were of the extreme two extreme poles of the globe i.e. North and South. PDP and BJP combine came into power in the state after the Omar' government's failures. It was Omar's mistake who preferred to go for contesting the Assembly Elections thereby discarding the Indian National Congress. Their egos conflicts led to the debacle in the Assembly elections. People of the valley are great and courageous because of the reasons that they have adopted the way of life to face the challenges always. By facing these challenges, they have strengthened their will power and boldness in facing all odds in their daily life from time to time. They are facing the turmoil due to militancy since 1989 and other sufferings which over the years cropped up due to the negligence on the part of State Governments from time to time. Omar's casual approach in dealing with the very important issues led to the debacle of his party in the last Assembly elections in the state. All these situations were dealt with by Omar Abdullah in a half hearted manner. Only he got the charter of demands prepared from the Administration and having prepared the same, it was submitted to the Government of India for consideration. But again he did not bother to act swiftly in giving the well needed clarifications to the GOI in respect of certain queries made by the Home Ministry. Since asked queries were not replied appropriately, the State Government could not get the approval from the GOI. Not responding quickly again, this instance can be considered as dealt with half hearted approach in taking the things to the logical conclusion for the ultimate welfare of the people of the state. Keeping all the circumstances responsible for the debacle in view, Dr. Farooq and his son are working hard work very hard in putting the National conference back on the rails once again.
RSS and BJP leaders are meeting in New Delhi on 10th February in order to discuss the existing political stalemate and to defuse it shortly after seeing the tough mood of the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.
BJP's patience is running short and is under cloud these days as it does not want to loose the power in the state. That is why it is working on this line. Under the present circumstances, the possibility of NC coming into power in coalition with BJP cannot be ruled out.
