Jammu, Feb 7: Gastroenterology CME cum workshop was organized concluded at JK Medicity Hospital Jammu on Sunday. This was organized by Dr Vijant Singh Chandail, a senior Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist from Government Medical College Jammu. A total of 8 faculty members were invited as guest faculty from north India especially from Srinagar, Ludhiana, Jullundhar and Chandigarh and the CME was attended by a total of more than 120 delegates. Principal GMC Jammu Dr Zahid Gellani, Dr Ved Bhushan Gupta, Dr Mohan Lal chaired the session. The speakers were Dr Surinder Rana, Associate Professor Deptt of Gastroenterology, PGI Chandigarh and Dr Nirmaljeet Singh Mali, Head, Deptt of Gastroenterology, Satguru Pratap Singh Apollo Hospital Ludhiana. Dr Surinder Rana from PGI Chandigarh enlightened the delegates about the various uses of endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and the various therapeutic EUS procedures which can help the patients for the treatment without undergoing surgery. Dr Nirmaljeet Singh Mali delivered lecture on the evolution of the endoscopy in the field of gastroenterology and aprised the audience about the various endoscopic procedures like ERCP, POEM, Bariatic endoscopic Balloon placements, EMR and ESD. All the 8 faculty members from north India had hands on access to EUS procedures and a total of 15 patients underwent the procedures free of cost which would otherwise cost around 15000 - 20000. Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is being regularly performed at JK Medicity hospital by Dr Vijant Singh Chandail, Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and JK Medicity is the only hospital in Jammu where this procedure is being done. |
