Early Times Report Poonch, Feb 8: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Monday organized a one-day mini literary festival in Pahari and Gojri languages in the border district of Poonch. The programme hosted at Poonch Dak Bungalow, the day-long event saw students, litterateurs and general public interacting with eminent persons from the field of literature connected with Pahari and Gojri languages. Commenting on the event, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that the aim of the event was to afford opportunities to the scholars and writers of these regional languages to present their creative work before the public. "We intend to promote writings in regional languages on a larger scale so that these languages get proper space and do not lag behind," he said, adding, today's event was part of such initiatives launched by the Academy last year. Announcing holding of state level writer's camp at Poonch, Dr. Hajini said several such initiatives were in the pipeline. "To begin with we intend to hold state writers camp in Poonch in May-June this year, which will be followed by a mega Urdu mushaira,"he said. The session held in Pahari and Gojri languages was presided over by Khadam Hussain Qamar. Before culmination of today's event Mohtishim Ahtesham, Sajad Punchi, Khurshid Kirmani and Alamdar Adam recited their poetry in Urdu. |
