Early Times Report Udhampur, Feb 8: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today initiated Education Audit for Government schools to check performance of students before going to annual examination shortly and also examine the level of teaching in schools including teaching skills and knowledge base of teachers. According to official spokesperson, "The School staff against whom action has been initiated for their failure in teaching and incompetence to possess even basic knowledge of the subjects and complete negligence in school management include ZEO Udhampur; Kamlesh Kumari, Headmaster, Shashi Kiran, Renu Gupta, Pushp Lata, Archana Sharma, Karuna and Aaarti Gupta all Masters; Geeta Anand, Jyoti Sharma, Sambli Kapahi, Pinky Gupta, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Richa Gupta, Meenakshi Bharti, Reena Katoch, Saloni Sharma and Roshi Gupta, all teachers. "The education performance audit of Government City High School and Girls High School was conducted wherein serious lapses were found and action initiated, official added. "The students in Government City High School having a total strength of 193 having a staff of 17 Graduate and Post Graduate teachers exhibited dismal performance with students failing to answer even basic questions of syllabus. The teachers were also found complete lacking the knowledge of their own subjects and even basics of English, Science and Mathematics, he said, adding, "similarly in Govt Girls High School having a staff strength of 18 for only 86 students the level of education and learning was found far below average expectancy." He said, "Owing to the glaring incompetence in teaching-learning the Deputy Commissioner directed for stopping salary of all 17 teachers of Govt City High School. DC Udhampur directed the staff to enhance the quality of education till a review is conducted after one month failing which departmental action shall be initiated for incompetence and negligence in teaching. The DC Dr Chopudhary also directed for random performance audit of all schools to know the quality of teaching, learning level of students and performance of staff. He even had expressed shock over teacher failing to answer even basic questions of general subjects for which they possess specialized degrees and asked the CEO initiate strict action. Earlier, the CEO had inspected the schools and reported shortfalls. PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, CEO Bishen Singh, XEn PHE Rajesh Gupta, DSHO Dr Sanjeev Kumar, DIO Dr Ashwani Hansa and other officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner. |
