KUPWARA, Feb 8: Police on Monday claimed that it seized brown sugar worth Rs 1 cr from two youth in Chowkibal Kralpora area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir. Acting on a tip-off, police started checking of vehicles on Kralpora road on Monday morning. During checking, cops spotted two suspicious youth in a vehicle, police sources said. However, when they tried to run away, the cops caught hold on them and took them into custody, the sources added. Sources said two envelopes containing 750 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 1 cr in the international market were recovered from them. A case under section 8/20 of Narcotics and Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) was registered against them at police station, Kralpora. The accused were identified as Abdul Hamid and Naseem Ahmad, both residents of Tangdhar. Theie questioning was in progress. |
