Prof R K Chhibber Memorial Trust invites entries for Journalism awards

Jammu, Feb 8 : The Prof RK Chhibber Memorial Trust, New Delhi, has invited entries for the two journalism awards which it recently established jointly with the Press Club of Jammu to honour outstanding work in the field of journalism by media persons based in Jammu or working in newspapers, published from Jammu.
The Awards have been instituted in the memory of Prof RK Chhibber, former Director, Education, Jammu, who passed away in 2014. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs twenty five thousand (Rs 25,000) and a citation.' The two categories of awards are Journalist of the Year (Political Reporting) and Journalist of the Year (Uncovering Jammu). While the first Award will be given to a reporter(s) (collaborative efforts will also be eligible to apply) who does outstanding political reporting on issues concerning the state of J&K, the second Award will be given for outstanding, particularly investigative (but not limited to it only), reporting on an issue concerning Jammu region. The reports should have been published in the year 2015 (January 1, 2015-December 31, 2015). The language of reporting should either be Hindi or English. The last date for receiving entries complete in all respects is March 10, 2016. The detailed rules and regulations governing the awards are available on the website of the Press Club of Jammu.
Sushil Chhibber, Managing Trustee of the Prof RK Chhibber Memorial Trust, New Delhi, said, "The two awardees will be decided by an independent jury comprising eminent mediapersons, people of repute and a nominee of the Press Club of Jammu. The awards will honour exemplary and outstanding work in journalism, especially that which exposes wrongdoings by the people holding important positions in the state administration or any of its agencies. As for the award for Political Reporting, it is aimed at promoting journalism which questioning the political class."
