79 IPS officers yet to file asset details | 'Top' cop, ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs, SSPs among defaulters | | Vikas Gupta Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 8: Notwithstanding the fact that Governor NN Vohra is keen to lead by example, but many IPS officers are not ready to follow suit. At least 79 of them have not submitted their immovable property returns (IPRs) to the Centre. This is mandatory for them to declare their IPRs by January 31 every year. Police sources said despite directions of the Home Department, only 18 State cadre IPS officers, including one of the rank of DGP, three ADGPs, fours IGPs, had filed their IPRs on time while 79 others were yet to submit the details of their assets. The defaulters, who were holding significant posts, included officers of the rank of a 'top' cop, ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs and SSPs, sources alleged. In the past, the Union Government had even threatened to bar officers from vigilance clearance and empanelment for senior level posts at Government of India level if they fail to submit their IPR details in time. However, despite their veiled threats, 79 IPS officers of J&K had so far not declared the details of their immovable properties. Last year also, notices were served by the Government on 32 IPS and 167 KAS officers for not submitting their IPRs. The GAD had on February 6, 2015 informed the Governor that 270 officers of the State Government of IAS, IPS, IFS and KAS cadres had not filed their property returns, which were due to be filed by January 31. The GAD had also released the list of 167 KAS officers, including Special Secretaries, MDs, SDMs and Deputy Commissioners, who were defaulters in not furnishing their returns, sources said. |
