starts probe Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 9: Vigilance Organisation has launched a probe to verify whether an under construction bungalow at Niki Tawi is being raised over the land belonging to the Flood and Irrigation Control (F&IC) department. A simultaneous inquiry is also being conducted by the DC Jammu, Simrandeep Singh. The Vigilance in its communique to Tehsildar Jammu West (No. SP/SK/H.S/Veri-07/2015/199-203/ VOJ, dated 9/02/2016) has sought Khasra number of the under construction house along with the newly prepared Akash Shajra/Map of Nandani village pointing the location of the under construction house and its adjoining areas, list of beneficiaries who have encroached upon the piece of land at Niki Tawi. In its communique the Vigilance has also pointed to an IPS officer and two other persons. However, if the sources are to be believed, the said piece of land was allegedly bought by father-in-law of the IPS officer from an ex-Congress Minister in 1999. While the construction of the palatial house was in progress, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal received complaint about the alleged encroachment of land which belongs to the I&FC department and, accordingly, he constituted a team. As per order No 901/CC/JMU;730-34, issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, "the State land is being encroached upon near Gole Gujral and Revenue Department is doing nothing, hence a joint commission of the officers including Director Land Records, Director Land Management JDA, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Assistant Commissioner Nazool is constituted". Informed sources said that the order was issued after Divisional Commissioner Jammu received reports that the land falling in Khasra numbers 301,302 and 303 of village Jammu bordering village Nandani near Gole Gujral called Niki Tawi is being encroached upon. |
