JKSUF deplores promotion of corrupt officer, seeks intervention of Governor | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 9 : Sikh United Front, J&K expressed its anguish and deplored the promotion of murder accused. This was stated by Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary, Sikh United Front, J&K and elected member DGPC, Jammu in a press conference today in which members of other Sikh organizations were also present. Avtar Singh said that in the recently held screening committee headed by Chief Secretary and D.G.P., the name of Uttam Chand SSP has reportedly been cleared for promotion to the rank of D.I.G. dubbing it as an act of mockery on the part of State administration for recommending the name of a murder occused for promotion, who brutally killed a sikh youth, Jasjeet Singh as a result of unprovoked firing orders by Uttam Chand on the peaceful protest of Sikhs at Gadigarh in June last year. Questioning the conduct of screening committee, the representatives of DGPC Jammu and other sikh organizations warned the administration that entire sikh community will come on road for lodging strong protest in case the government does not take remedial measures in the matter.Expressing full faith in the administrative skills, experience and wisdom of the Governor, N.N.Vohra, a joint appeal was made to him presently heading the State government to personally look into the matter and seek status report the State Vigilance Commission about the complaint against Uttam Chand pending there hoping justice to the family of the deceased in particular and sikh community in general. |
