JAMMU, Feb 10 : Government SPMR College of Commerce today clinched the thriller beating their seniors and star-studded combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments by two wickets in the inter-college men's cricket final played on the campus ground, here. Earlier, batting first, Law and Sciences set a target of 152 runs for the loss of three wickets in given 20 overs, which, in reply, Commerce College chased in the last over of their innings with two wickets in hand. Naman played fine innings of 41-ball 49 runs while first class cricketer, Gokul Baru made 44 runs. Arun Singh added valuable 14-ball 26 runs to the total. From Commerce College, Kulvinder Singh, Mohit Guupta and Shubam shared the wickets. Later, Commerce College attained the goal making 153 runs for eight in 19.4 overs. Sunny played brilliant knock of 28 runs off just 12 deliveries hitting two sixes and an equal number of boundaries. Hritik Gupta and Tushar Gupta also batted well adding 28 and 27 runs respectively. Shubam Pundir contributed 13-ball 19 runs to the total. From PG Law and Sciences, Soumaya Jain and Khalid shared three wickets each while Arun Singh and Jesh shared apiece each. Today's final was officiated by the technical penal comprising Saleem-ur-Rehman, Suresh Singh, Vijay Dogra and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires while Manu Khajuria was scorer. In the final and valedictory function, Director General of Police, SP Vaid was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau presided. Among others present were Prof Arvind Jasrotia (HOD Dept of Law), Ajaz Malik (Physical Director, Commerce College), Prof Sanjay Singh (Incharge Commerce College), Jasvant Singh, Amit Sharma, Dr Brij Baloria, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia and Jai Bharat. |
