Early Times Report

Udhampur, Feb 11: Despite government's strict order not to attach the teachers at any level, the illegal attachment still are roosting unabated in District Udhampur when some politically backed influential teachers detached from Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Udhampur but have refused to join due to political influence in order to enjoy the luxury show offs and easy life styles.
According to sources, many teachers are overstaying at their posts from several years courtesy backing of power corridor and corruption and many of them are taking tuitions thus don't want to get their illegal businesses harmed. "Under political influence, they refused to join new places of postings and started intimidating concerned ZEO when latter refused to be hand in glove with them in their nefarious designs," sources within education department said. Locals hailing from far flung areas told Early Times that some peoples avail benefits during academics and even take job on the bases of RBA but when it comes to work in remote areas they deny accepting placements.
"Notwithstanding the government order, some teachers are pursuing with the illegal attachment thus bringing disrepute to the education department as well as big dent to the education system in Udhampur district, they added. "Some schools of city just have enrolment below thirty but high number of teachers are posted reasons better known to officials in education department, they alleged and said, "authorities at helms need to take some remedial measures before the whole system goes to rot."
Hailing stringent action taken by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur Sahiad Iqbal Choudary against 17 teachers who failed to give satisfactorily replies to his queries, they said we are thankful to him and urge him to bring some more reforms in the ailing education system.
When contacted, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Udhampur Bishan Singh admitted that we know the facts and department is working to handle the alleged over staying at their posts to streamline the education system. He said that we are almost ready with the proposal and within in a week after approval from Director School Education the overstaying 'teachers' will be transferred to streamline the education system especially in far remote areas.
