Why NC leadership is in disarray, confusion

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 12: Amid uncertainty over formation of government in the state , as the two erstwhile alliance partners PDP and BJP appear clueless, opposition National Conference also seem to be in a state of disarray with its leaders confused, issuing statements tangled with contradiction. If its president Omar Abdullah on one hand taunts PDP that people have loved imposition of Governor's rule in the state, in same breath he questions Mehbooba's delay in formation of the government. What adds chaos to NC's stand is assertion on part of the senior leaders of party in contending that snap poll is the only option in J&K state.
In an open letter to Mehbooba Mufti Omar Abdullah recently took a jibe at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for not forming the government and contended that people are enjoying the Governor's rule in the state as the coalition government has failed miserably in the last ten months."This is the achievement of their ten months rule that the people are loving the Governor rule more than the PDP-BJP Government. …..I am amazed that the state is being ruled by the Governor and the people are not complaining…… This is the evidence that in the last ten months the BJP and PDP Government has failed badly and that is why their absence is not bothering them," Omar wrote in the letter adding further that "the absence of a minister is being loved by the people. They say that the ministers haven't done anything at least the Governor would do something for them….,".
So far as the contention of this letter is concerned it was full of sarcasm and criticism over the functioning of the PDP-BJP alliance. Be that as it may, then why is Omar asking PDP chief every next day to form government with BJP as alliance partner. Even supporters of NC see it as an antagonistic strategy reflection both desperation as also hypocrisy of NC chief in being by the side of people of state and their sympathiser. If Omar says on one hand PDP-BJP alliance and its ministers have miserably failed to deliver which is why the people feel comfortable with Governor's rule, why is he bent upon thrusting this coalition government again and insisting on government formation, is the key question.
On the other hand NC leaders in both the regions are desperate and keenly waiting for Assembly to get dissolved ( which they state publicly) and asserting on mid term polls in the state, no matter the party itself is not ready to face it. Only the other day NC Provincial president Devinder Rana predicted a snap poll in the state both in the event of formation of the government as also in case the political stalemate continues in the state. While these are contradictory statements on the present political situation in the state from NC reflecting chaos and confusion in its analysis and assessment, the bigger question remains is NC actually ready to face electorate in the snap poll. In any case NC is taking pleasure and pride in making such statements loaded with hypocrisy and political posturing.
