| Students, officials accuse coordinator of shielding his favorite | | Allegations of corruption against IGNOU counsellor | |

ANANTNAG, Feb 11: The students pursuing masters in social work through Indra Ghandi National Open University (IGNOU) have accused the coordinator of the study center set up at degree college (Boys) Anantnag of shielding the counsellor who they allege has been taking money from the students for providing them readymade project material. A delegation of students and officials told Early Times that the coordinator, Ali Mohammad Dar has failed to take any action against the counsellor despite their repeated complaints of his professional misconduct.
"At least three groups of students lodged complaint with the coordinator and clearly told him that the counsellor had taken money from them for both project material and journals but he is buying time in acting against the said counsellor. His time buying approach in disengaging the counsellor indicates that he is trying to shield him," students told Early Times.
"Now the coordinator wants us to tell the counsellor on his face that he has taken money from them. He is now blackmailing us in an attempt to save his blue eyed boy," students alleged adding "We will register our complaint with the regional director if the coordinator fails to remove the counsellor,".
Even the officials working at the study center said that the students in their verbal complaint clearly told the coordinator that the counsellor had taken money from them.
"After the complaint the coordinator even held a meeting with other officials where in most of the participants viewed that the cousellor should be disengaged but that did not happen later," said an official. He said that asking the students to come and counter the cousellor is an attempt to blackmail the students and cover up the wrong doings of the cousellor.
Coordinator of the study center, Ali Mohammad Dar admitted that the students lodged a complaint with him against the cousellor for his corrupt practices. "Soon after the students lodged a verbal complaint I temporarily disengaged him. Now I will call the students to college next Sunday and ask them to lodge a written complaint and counter the counsellor. If they fail to do so then action will be taken against them. Actually it is a single student who provokes his class mates against the counsellor," Dar told Early Times. |
