Social Networking sites abuzz with curse for convicted milk company

Srinagar, Apr 5: A Local Milk Company convicted for selling adulterated milk products has evoked massive ridicule on social networking sites where common masses curse the company for playing with their lives with impunity. On Monday a court in central Kashmir's Budgam district in its order said that "Accused company Khyber Agro Farms Pvt Ltd village Ladhoo Tehsil Pampore Pulwama is held guilty and is convicted through its Incharge Operational/nominated person Mohammad Shafi Ganie and is accordingly convicted for sections 51, 52 and 59 of FSS Act 2006." Common masses terming the matter serious took to social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter and cursed the company for allegedly selling substandard milk products in nexus with concerned government officials.
"Through its milk product, khyber poison's Kashmir and then treats them at their Hospital (Khyber Hospital) this is how their show goes on, God bless this nation." Umaan Omar one social activist wrote on Facebook Giving vent to his feelings, one noted writer said that they are deeply connected with politicians and administration and they will soon be given safe passage, even law will be changed for them like law was changed for Srinagar master plan violators." "@ all it is about Khyber agro industries, they have been mixing detergent powder in its flagship product, The khyber milk. The court in its strictures against the industry has said that God knows how many people might have died by consuming this milk, the food analyst Kashmir has been in league with them, the court has termed food analyst as cancer for the society, it is a fashion with many a businessman in Kashmir to keep long beard, raise their trousers ankle high to showcase the religiosity." One noted Journalist wrote on his facebook page
The court besides imposing a penalty of Rs nine lakh on Khyber Agro Farms also ordered a sentence of six months imprisonment to the accused company through the nominated person. Taking cognizance of the matter, the court sad that in order to prevent further consuming of adulterated and substandard food items by the general public, the Commissioner Food Safety should collect the samples of all food items of the company and other companies for testing.
"Samples of all milk products, oil, ghee and other edible products available in the market in the name of the convicted company and other companies (be collected) and shall send it to Referral Laboratory Kolkata for opinion and action as warranted under law be initiated against the company whose product if declared unsafe, mis-branded and sub-standard or otherwise harmful for consumption.'
"The Commissioner Food and Safety shall immediately take all steps in ensuring that the convicted company is closed or products are taken off from the market unless Referral Laboratory Kolkata declares that the products of the convicted company as safe to consume," the court order reads
Pertinently the court was acting on a complaint filed against the company on March 23, 2014 as in the complaint company was accused of selling sub-standard food items prohibited under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The court has also ordered removal of the Food Analyst, Kashmir, Hamidullah Dar and said that "Let displeasure of the court be conveyed and reflected in his service records and the court lacks trust in him and justice has been all the time casualty at his hands.
