Forest Department removes illegal saw mills

Jammu, Apr 28: In a massive operation an illegal saw mill owned and operated by Shiv Dass son of Late Lal Chand resident of village Talli Morh Railway Patri Miransahib Jammu were dismantled by a team of Jammu Forest Division led by Ajit Chander, Range Officer Bahu. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr. V.S. Senthil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu. When contacted the Divisional Forest Officer he mentioned that the said saw mills are functioning illegally and are against SRO 103 of 2012 Saw Mill Rules.
There were resistance from the owner of the illegal saw mill but the situation was handled and the parts of saw mill viz, Blade & Motor were seized and brought to Forest Complex Gladni Jammu. The Forest Offence Report (FOR) has been registered against owners of the illegal saw mills for violation of SRO 103 and under various sections of J&K Forest Act. The Range Officer Bahu has filed the cases before the Authorised Officer/DFO Jammu for initiating of confiscation proceeding under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act.
