Self proclaimed 'lion of BJP' forces officials to follow his diktats Land mafia given freehand to exploit state, forest land 4/28/2016 11:44:56 PM ET Report JAMMU, Apr 28: Since the day BJP-PDP government has taken over the reins of the state, administration and the system have become second fiddle to it. A local MLA who claims to be the 'lion' of Nowshera has made the administration run for its face saving. The land mafia, it is alleged, is being run and controlled by the political bigwigs in BJP and has its clout over the administration of the district where the officials have to succumb under pressure. As per the information percolating down here, it was reported that a 2-3 kilometer road length at village Barnara in tehsil Sunderbani which was being constructed by the land mafia having encroached the state as well as forest land but it was stopped, obviously by the intervention of the state administration. The work of the road construction was re-taken after two BJP leaders, including the local MLA , met at the guest house and instructed the mafia to go ahead with the construction. "The residents of the area had earlier impressed upon the Deputy Commissioner to stop the illegal encroachment and it was done immediately. But, later the BJP leaders held a clandestine meet at the guest house which was surreptitiously attended by the contractors of the land mafia," said residents. They alleged that local MLA had openly dared the district administration not to intervene in the road construction saying that he "is the undisputed lion of the area' and the contractors do not need to take the administration into confidence instead they should approach him for any work. The high-headedness of the MLA has unleashed a reign of terror in Nowshera district as the people allege that the MLA is taking undue liberty of his position. The DC, ADC, SSP , SP and other high officials maintained silence when they were asked as to why a MLA Is poking his nose in the administrative matters.
