ZEO Lakhanpur to hold Govt schools' conference in private school
4/28/2016 11:45:03 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: The decision taken by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Lakhanpur to organize a conference of teachers and headmasters, in a private school rather than some government, is allegedly aimed at promoting the private institution and its infrastructure while showing the government institutions in bad light.
The ZEO Office Lakhanpur is going to organize conference of teachers and headmasters on April 30, in a private school at Kathua. The message forwarded by ZEO to all school principals read as, "A conference is being held on 30th of April in Kathua at 11 AM. Chief Education Officer Kathua (CEO) will preside over the function. The topic to be discussed in the conference is "Quality of Teachers-Quality of Education".
It is further ordered to Primary and Middle Schools administration to send one teacher each, one teacher and Headmaster from each High School, One teacher and Principal from each HSS, for participating in the conference. "Those who want to speak will register their names on 29th of April with this office. Participants will reach half an hour earlier at the venue. Ensure participation", the order concludes.
Raising finger over the order, sources alleged there are numerous government schools, where accommodation is easily available but preferring private school over government, would ultimately put the government sector in negative light. "It simply means that government schools have failed in organzing even a simple conference and what the wards will learn in such institutions, where some hundred students could not sit together", sources said.
They further said that the overt motive behind such move was to promote the private school by the ZEO. "It is very sad to notice that such higher officials are favouring the private schools for organizing function. Facilities are easily available in several government schools but hidden motive is promoting of the newly opened school", the sources said, adding that even options in other government schools or private were not explored by ZEO and it was pre-planned.
ZEO Lakhanpur Daleep Dhar said that they had received a letter from CEO office Kathua for organizing the workshop, anywhere the accommodation was available. "In Lakhanpur school we have very small rooms and when we approached the private school, they provided us accommodation free of cost", he said.
On being asked, if some other private schools were approached for accommodation, he replied in negative.
"Who informed ZEO about space available in the private school, which is a newly opened institution in Kathua. There must be some relationship between the private school and ZEO or some higher official as no other private institution of Kathua was explored for accommodation", an official said.
Chief Education Officer Kathua, could not be contacted.
