Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 29: The state vigilance organisation (SVO) today produced challan against an ex-storekeeper of CAPD department in the court of additional district and sessions judge, anti-corruption, Doda, in a corruption case. The challan was produced against Tariq Hussain Ganai, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganai of Mohalla Khakhai, Bhaderwah, then storekeeper of CAPD department, under section 5 (1) (e) with read section 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt 2006. Before registering the case, SVO had carried out a secret probe into allegations against him that he owned movable and immovable property disproportionate to his known sources of income. The allegations were that he had added two additional storeys to his ancestral house at Mohalla Haveli Nagar, Bhaderwah, raised a triple storey residential house with two shops adjacent to his ancestral house and purchased a house for Rs 20 lakh at Hyderpura, Janipura, in Jammu. He was also alleged to have purchased in his own name and in the name of his father a number of vehicles, including a truck, a minibus and an Alto car. The value of these assets, raised by him during his posting as storekeeper of various CAPD stores here, was found disproportionate to his known sources of income. During investigation, search warrants were obtained from the the court of special judge (anti-corruption), Jammu, and a search of his two residential houses at Bhaderwah and one at Hyderpura was simultaneously conducted by SVO sleuths on June 30, 2007 in the presence of independent witnesses. Statements of witnesses were recorded under section 161 of CrPC read with section 162 of CrPC, according to SVO sources. Sources said while working on the case, SVO found out out he possessed disproportionate assets worth Rs 36,60,572. The court fixed May 12, 2016 as the next date of hearing. |
