City schools flooded with surplus staff while rural facing 'staff crunch'

Rajouri, Apr 29; Many government schools situated in far flung areas in Rajouri district don't have required (sanctioned) staff, proper infrastructure and basic facilities while many government schools in Urban areas are flooded with surplus staff and the courtesy is attachments on different grounds by the influential teachers.
"Many schools in far flung areas where no private institution is available, have large number of students but unfortunately the department has failed to provide teachers as per sanctioned strength and many among appointed have managed adjustments, sources in education department said.
They said, "If concerned authorities/ Education ministry dares to conduct impartial and transparent inquiry in this matter over sixty percent attachments will be proved fake and allegedly managed under a nexus with concerned officials."
"In a glaring example 11 teachers have been appointed at government middle school for 50 students in W- 8 in Rajouri town out of which 4 are on attachment basis, they pin pointed.
Not only this, despite situated few hundred meters from office of Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri the academic standard of the school found very poor despite one teacher for five students when the Ch Altaf Hussain , CEO and Suresh Kumar ,district education planning officer (DEPO) paid surprise visits this week.
According to inspection report submitted by the DEPO, of 11 staff members four teachers were on leave while academic performance of the school was poor and kitchen for Mid Day Meal (MDM) preparation was in unhygienic condition & without any ventilation and the cook was using forest wood instead LPG cylinder. "Even electric wires were touching the school building posing threat to the lives of innocent students and the MDM charge was given to a attached teacher by violating the rules /regulations," report added.
On the report submitted by the District Education Planning Officer (DEPO) , Ch Altaf Hussin, CEO vide his office order dt27/4/2016 has directed the headmaster to shift the MDM charge to another teacher, shift the kitchen to safe & hygienic room, ensure to provide MDM to students as per menu and as per sanctioned quantity, to contact PDD authorities to shift the electric wires and to raise the academic standard of the school.
Shahbaz Khan , headmaster when contacted said that on the directions from the CEO several measures will be taken to improve the functioning of the school.
