Cricket tourney held to glorify terrorists, BJP Ministers mum | | | ET Report JAMMU, Apr 29: Uninterrupted conduct of cricket tournament by the terrorist groups of Kashmir Valley in the memory of those terrorists who were killed during encounters with security is another gift of self-styled BJP to the nationalist people of J&K. Shocking awards were named, in this tournament, in the name of those terrorists who were involved in martyring some brave soldiers including Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan but neither J&K Police nor other agencies took any action to stop this tournament which was organized only to glorify terrorists who have launched a war against Indian State. But is more shockingly, nationalist BJP leadership, including party Ministers, were aware of the tournament but they did not utter even a single word, fearing that they will lose their chair if they speak any thing on the event which was organized to glorify terrorism. Credible sources said that intelligence agencies have brought this issue before a senior BJP Minister and asked him to bring this matter to the notice of the police higher-ups to stop this tourney. But the Minister, sources said, has directed intelligence officers to keep mum on this issue and allow the tournament to be conducted successfully. Although the power hungry BJP Minister have kept a blind eye on the tournament, a party leader, who is known for his pro-Jammu stand has raised this issue. Prof. Virender Gupta, BJP spokesman, expressed his surprise that Government and police force deliberately ignored the conduct of about 30 friendly cricket matches between 12 teams, extended over a period of two to three months, in different parts of the valley sponsored and arranged by the separatist groups and consequently, a prize distribution function in the name of the separatists killed was held under the chairmanship of a father of a hard-core terrorist. He added that this was a great negligence on the part of the Government as the cricket matches were used as instruments in motivating the youth to bring them under the banner of separatists. Prof. Virender said that it is irony that on one hand the police used brute force against the non-local students studying in NIT Srinagar, raising pro-India slogans while carrying national flag, and beat them mercilessly, whereas, on other hand, it allowed the anti-national event to happen and skipped the venue of the event deliberately. |
