SVO produces challan against ‘corrupt’ forest official

Srinagar, Apr 30: The State Vigilance Organization Saturday produced a Challan before Court of Special anti-corruption judge against Nazir Ahmad Dar, an official of the Forest Department.
A spokesperson of the SVO in a statement said they produced a Challan of FIR No 04/2015 against public servant Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar resident of Chewa Wadwan, Budgam the then Range Clerk Forest Department Budgam before Court of Special Anti-corruption Judge Srinagar presided by Yashpal Bourney.
The spokesperson said the case was registered in P/S VOK on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Gh. Nabi Ganai son of Mohammad Shaban Ganai resident of Paripora Magam alleging therein that accused Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar resident of Chewa Wadwan, Budgam the then Range Clerk Forest Department Budgam was demanding bribe of Rs. 10,00/- for issuance of renewed license of his Timber Sale Depot situated at Paripora Magam, Budgam. “Before paying the said amount to the accused, the complainant approached the Vigilance Organization, Kashmir for taking legal action against the said accused public servant under law.”
“On receipt of the complaint, Case FIR No. 04/2015 U/S 5(2) P.C. Act Svt. 2006 r/w 161 RPC ( now Section 4(a) (Amendment) Act, 2014) P/S VOK was registered and investigation taken up. The trap team constituted by VOK headed by Dy. SP. Mushtaq Ahmad laid a successful trap in which the accused Nazir Ahmad Dar the then Range Clerk Forest Department Budgam was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 1,000/- as bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused Nazir Ahmad Dar in the presence of independent witness.”
The spokesperson said the investigation of the case was finally concluded as proved against the accused Nazir Ahmad Dar and after the accord of Govt. sanction for launching prosecution, the challan of the case was produced before the court of Special Anti-Corruption Judge Srinagar today on 30.04.2016 for Judicial determination. “At the time of production of the Challan the accused was present in the court and was released on bail. The next date of the case has been fixed on20.05.2016. It is pertinent to mention that till date in the instant year VOK has produced 11 challans before the Anti Corruption Courts for judicial determination.
