JAMMU, Apr 30 : Finally, the J&K State Sports Council has decided to start the much awaited swimming season by opening the facility for the interested aspirants at MA Stadium, here from May 2. "Those interested aspirants have been advised to seek fresh registration by completing the necessary formalities at the office of the Manager, Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here. Already registered swimmers are required to get their Identity cards renewed by visiting the same office from May two onwards during office hours," Sports Officer (Jammu) of the State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma told. To start with, the Sports Council shall be holding training sessions in the evening only with first such swimming class at 4 pm. "We will extend the timings according to the response and convince of the registered candidates. As per the past practice, the coaching sessions are held in both morning and evening sessions," said Manager Indoor Complex, Satish Gupta. Meanwhile, to look into the preparedness on part of the Sports Council, Commissioner Secretary, Sports, Hilal Ahmad Parry today paid a visit to the Swimming Pool. It has been reliably learnt that the Minister for Sports, Imran Raza Ansari had deputed the senior officer to personally see into the arrangements being made for the upcoming swimming season. It is pertinent to mention here that the swimming season was suppose to start from April one, but due to certain technical reasons, it could not be made operational by the concerned staff. |
