HC directs SIT incharge to appear in person

Jammu, May 1: In the Bapu Asaram's Bhagwati Nagar ashram case, high court judge Ramalingam Sudhakar today directed SIT incharge to appear in person on next hearing.
The court directive came in a petition filed by one Vikrant Sharma, seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against home secretary, DGP, SP (City North) and SHO of Nawabad police station for wilful and intentional disobidence of the high court order in which SIT was directed to make all out efforts to get hold of the accused by resorting to all legally permissible coercive methods and bring the investigation to a logical conclusion within a reasonable span of time and submit status report on weekly basis.Justice Ramalingam, after hearing the two sides, observed that the April 12, 2016 court order had not been obyed.
He directed the petitioner to serve the copy and directed police authority to act in terms of the April 12, 2016 court order in which status report to be filed.
He also directed the SIT incharge to appear in person on May 4 next. (JNF)
