Sunderbani, May 1: The reign of terror unleashed by a MLA in this frontier area has made the lives of common people miserable while his goons are indulging in corruption and illegal works.
While the state government in its recent reshuffle swiped the departments of Lal Singh and Bali Bhagat , the system deteriorated further.
The administrative machinery is openly involved in supporting the scamsters while the MLA's goons are illegal usurping thousands of kanals of forest land in Sunderbani tehsil.
Residents of areas adjacent to the encroached land alleged that Forest department officials are involved in the loot while the local MLA is at the helm of affairs who directs the administrative machinery as well as his goons to maneuver on the forest land occupied by them.
The forest land controlled by the MLA headed mafia extends from village Barnara, Makol, Siya, Devak, hatthal, Upper Hathal , Nohoti, Pathadhalla, Langer, Chabriian, Thandapani, Raya Siot, Chhanni, Marchola and Bazabhan-all tehsils of Sunderbani, division Nowshera.
The villagers allege that even the Chief Forest officer Jammu, Divisional Forest officer Sunderbani and Range officer, Sunderbani who are in know of the mafia working under the supervision of the MLA.
"Instead of taking any action against the MLA, they provide logistic support to him to carry on his misdeeds," villagers alleged.
" Thousands of the kanals of the land has been occupied by the mafia that is working on the direction of the MLA who claims to be the lion of the area," said one of the resident whose agricultural land too has been snatched by the land mafia.
" No person dares to approach the administration with a complaint as the MLA in connivance with the officers warn complainants to stay away," said one of the complainants.
