JAMMU, May 2: Department of Political Sciences today qualified for the final of the inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, on the campus ground, here. In the semifinal, played today, Department of Political Sciences defeated Department of Mathematics by nine wickets. Earlier, batting first, after Political Sciences won the toss and opted to field, Mathematics made 112 runs for five wickets in 15 overs. Sumit remained top scorer with 48 runs off 45 balls, including seven boundaries while Sunny and Arjun contributed 20 and 15 runs respectively. From Political Sciences, Shakeel Ahmed and Narinder shared two wickets each. In reply, Department of Mathematics chased the total making 116 runs in just 10.5 overs losing one wicket. Fasil played brilliant innings of 38-ball 74 runs hitting eight boundaries and three sixes while Shakeel added 23-ball 33 runs. The only wicket lost by Mathematics was taken away by Gurdev Singh. Today's semifinal officiated by the technical penal including Vijay Dogra, Rahul Sharma and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires while Satpal was scorer. |
