NEET row: SC accepts J&K govt's application for intervention 5/2/2016 11:26:00 PM Agencies New Delhi, May 2 : The Supreme Court on Monday accepted an application moved by the Jammu and Kashmir government asking for intervention into medical entrance examination. The apex court has listed the matter for hearing tomorrow. "The application for intervention and modification of Order dated 28th April was filed today by the State and also a mention was made for early hearing before the Chief Justice," said JK Law Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Mir. He said the application has been accepted and listed for tomorrow before the Constitutional bench. Sr. Advocate and former Atorney General of India Gopal Subramanium and Vishwanathan, Sr Advocate and former Assistant Solicitor General appeared for the State apart from Sunil Fernandez. Mir and G. H.Tantry, Chairman BOPEE are in Delhi to briefthe advocates. Advocate General is also on way to Delhi in this regard, said Mir. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a single common entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, slated to be held in two phases throughout India. Government of India has also stated that JK state will be covered under NEET. The Supreme Court has decided to hold the two-phased common entrance test for MBBS, BDS and PG courses through NEET on May 1 and July 24. The SC has also approved the schedule put before it by the Centre, CBSE and the Medical Council of India (MCI) for treating All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) for May 1 as NEET -I following which SC observed that those who had not applied for AIPMT will be given the opportunity to appear in NEET-II on July 24 and a combined result would be declared on August 17.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
