Jammu, May 3: The people of Marwah block of Kishtwar district have showed great resentment over the closing of office of block development officer (BDO) in the village. Closed at Marwah about three months back, the BDO office was now being run from a rented building in Kishtwar town, official sources said. Due to the closure of BDO office at Marwah, locals, including MGNREGA job card holders were facing a lot of problems. Marwah residents, including one Abid Hussain, have sought the intervention of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and concerned minister Abdul Haq Khan. They also raised questions over the working of BDO office. Though RDD had spent crores on development schemes at Marwah, nothing was visible on ground, they alleged, demanding a probe into the expenditure made by officials on various schemes. A huge amount was spent on the construction of Gawran-Nowpachi road, but it was in shambles now, they alleged. They also alleged that almost the whole administrative machinery was missing from Marwah. ACR, Kishtwar, too had taken a round of the area on the directions of Kishtwar DC. They alleged that Kishtwar MLA and minister Sunil Kumar Sharma too had promised people to make operational all the 36 departments, which were sanctioned for Marwah, but no initiative had so far been made by him in this regard. They said though various deputations of Marwah and Warwan people had in the last over one month called on various ministers, the concerned MLA, advisors to governor and the Kishtwar DC, but no steps had been taken to redress their grievances. |
