Reasi, May 3: A police cop, who is at present posted in a separate police wing in Reasi district, is alleged to be selling illicit liquor at Triyath and other places with impunity from law.
"He carries illicit liquor from Pouni to Triyath every morning in his luxury car and sells it to people on higher rates. He sells all the illicit before the opening of the wine shops in the area," police sources said.
He was earlier posted in traffic police and is said to be the close relative of an MLA. "He hardly attends his office in Reasi district," sources alleged.
"He reaches Taryath at about 9 pm when all the local liquor shops are closed and is often seen selling illicit liquor to locals," a Triyath resident said.
He said though locals had made several complaints against the cop to senior police officers, any action against him was yet to be taken.
Sources alleged that he also had his hand in the smuggling of bovine and timber in the district. |
