| Jammu upholds state's secular credentials | | |

JAMMU, May 3: Jammu widely known as city of temples with people of different religions living together with traditional harmony respecting each other's religion and participating shoulder to shoulder in all religious and other festivities, is the testimony to the historical fact which formed the basis to call hill town as Jammu.
Recalling the genesis which led to creation of Jammu, the historians assert that while on the hunting spree in this hillocks area right adjacent to tawi river, Raja Jambo Lochan noticed lion and goat drinking water together in a pond, which gave him a pleasant surprise to see the harmony between lion and goat paving way for existence of Jammu.
Taking cue from press reports in which Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister called Jammu and its people as votaries of established communal harmony, the analysts aver that for the first time any political leader from Kashmir has gone a step ahead to shower praises on Jammu and its people publicly which shows how much open hearted the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir is having broken all past records of Kashmir based politicians who did not evince such a magnanimity calling right as right and wrong as wrong which augers very well for good days to follow in the near future in the history of state always longing for such a dynamic and immensely matured political leader of any region whose heart throbs for seeing Jammu and Kashmir as a place to be quoted as one of the best states of the country and days are not far off to see this dream coming true given the initial meaningfully vibrant start of the government with Mehbooba Mufti contemplating Jammu to be made as an independent tourist destination for attraction of tourists to visit Jammu spontaneously and with much fanfare as also in the wake of any disturbance becoming as stumbling block for them to visit luscious tourists spots in Kashmir valley.
The players of tourists industry in this part of the State say that the strategy of the Chief Minister to develop Jammu as highly sought-after independent destination for tourists is likely to bring Jammu on the tourist map at par with Kashmir called paradise on earth which , in totality, would culminate into tremendous boost to the state economy benefiting all stakeholders of tourist industry struggling to survive owing to sharp fall of flow of tourists and pilgrims to Jammu city eversince train directly reaching Katra adversely telling upon transport and tourist industry in Jammu.
The think tank terming the state as a big family cited the example of elder and younger brothers with elder shouldering more responsibility in the family and accommodating each aspect to develop its interests and younger brother, being Ladla beta, always behaves like a wanton boy indulging into infructuous adventures as long as he gains maturity, although the role of younger brother can not be undermined in the family affairs, the experts further add that maturity level of Mehbooba Mufti has achieved it's highest zenith which did not deter her from extolling Jammu people to provide shelter to thousands of Kashmiri pandits and muslim brethren with open arms to settle in Jammu during their exodus from the valley over two decades ago who are living together with traditional communal harmony and fellow feelings with few anti national elements some times trying to create cleavage between them which is thwarted tooth and nail by people of all communities unitedly to prove the old saying "united we stand divided we fall".
The analysts say that where there is will there is way and the way in which Chief Minister has initiated moves to restore shattered confidence of Jammu people at the hands of BJP leaders who awfully lack sense of belonging for their own people, a ray of hope has re-kindled in the minds of people here to find the age old discrimination getting faded away slowly but certainly now at the hands of incumbent Chief Minister with BJP having utterly failed to disclose its intention to have the discriminatory treatment stumped out being meted out to Jammu by the successive governments since decades for which the people preferred to support BJP in assembly elections in 2014 and because of whom the BJP is in power now grappling to restore its sagging image. |
